8 August 2026 - Fluorchem Corporation (FL Corp) announces the completion of a CAD$100,000 investment into the replacement and retrofit of pilot HFC-HCFC cracking and processing units at its B208 Plant for the research production of R1233zd (1-Chloro-3,3,3-trifluoropropene) gas.
This upgrade represents the continued investment of Fluorchem Corporation into advancing science and innovation around cleaner production of next-generation HFO and HCFO gases.
R1233zd is a next generation, low global warming and low ozone depletion refrigerant and blowing agent gas. R1233zd is SNAP-approved for most polyurethane foam applications. It is also nonflammable and volatile organic compound (VOC) exempt.
These newly upgraded units will allow Fluorchem Corporation to further improve our pilot process as it aims for a return to commercial production towards 2030.
This project marks Fluorchem Corporation's transition from research into virgin production and recycling of non-virgins through chemical reprocessing of refrigerants, blowing agents, and inerting gases. The transition is planned to be fully completed by January 2030.
