Propylene 150 is a new, ultra high performance fluorinated surface protectant and lubricant spray currently in development by Fluorchem. Just like Propylene 204, it is a proprietary formula based off hexafluoropropylene which the product derives its name from. 

Currently in development at Fluorchem since January 2023, Propylene 150 is set to be a stronger, more effective version of Propylene 204 with new surfactant technologies giving it a significantly stronger effect at nearly eliminating friction with increased dry lubricant properties. 

The first demonstration units are set to be produced by Q4 2023. We currently expect to see Propylene 150 on the market by early to mid 2024.

Propylene 150 utilizes a next-generation blend of fluorosurfactants and low molecular weight perfluoropolyethers (PFPEs) derived from hexafluoropropylene (HFP) chemistries within our Propylene Monomer (PM) program. This advanced formulation significantly reduces surface energy upon application, allowing the product to form an ultrathin boundary layer thats 1,500 - 2,000 times thinner than a human hair. This layer dramatically lowers static and dynamic coefficients of friction between contacting surfaces resulting in smooth, almost anti-gravity gliding, similar to the puck on an air hockey table. 

Propylene 150 was expected to be rolled out in January 2024 however, due to extended testing being undertaken, release was delayed until February 2024. 

In March 2024, Fluorchem Corporation has temporarily suspended development within the PM (Propylene Monomer) program due to Canada's changing regulatory landscape. On June 1 2025, Fluorchem oficially terminated all research and development operations within the PM program.
